You know the names Tracey Emin, Cecily Brown and Rosie Wylie.
But one of the best exhibitions I have seen this year isn’t by any of them.
It’s by Hurvin Anderson.
One of the most important figurative painters working in Britain today.
Just opened @tate these are incredibly beautiful, dreamlike paintings. Hazy, full of atmosphere, yet layered with questions around identity, memory and belonging.
England and Jamaica held in the same space.
The viewer can’t help but start to look at everyday spaces differently and see the history and storytelling within them.
This is an exhibition that is going to stay with me.
