Choose Your Weapon is an incredibly powerful and collectible work. It is a meeting of the Godfather of Street Art, Keith Haring, and Banksy, the most famous street artist of all time. The dog’s simple, graphic style is a direct nod to Haring’s iconic barking dog motif from the 1980s. Banksy appropriates this imagery to challenge perceptions of disaffected youth, suggesting they are often misunderstood and misrepresented. The drips of wet paint reinforce graffiti as a tool of resistance, aligning with Banksy’s belief in art as a weapon for social change.Alongside Girl with Balloon, the Choose Your Weapon collection is a standout in Banksy’s print market. These prints continue to captivate collectors and they rarely come up at auction.
