"Believe in Extraordinary" was created to mark Team GB’s participation in the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. In her unmistakable style, Tracey Emin has produced an image featuring one of her signature motifs: a delicate bird perched on a branch of a pomegranate tree. In Azerbaijani culture, the pomegranate symbolises unity and it also plays a central role in the European Games’ visual identity.
The work captures the spirit of the Games and the drive of Team GB athletes, offering a message of inspiration: to believe in ourselves and strive for our personal best. Emin’s practice, renowned for its emotional intensity and intimate narratives, spans drawing, neon, sculpture and printmaking.
In her prints, she translates this raw, expressive energy onto paper, using colour, texture and composition to convey the same immediacy and vulnerability found in her larger body of work. "Believe in Extraordinary" is a vivid example of how Emin’s printmaking continues to capture both personal and collective stories with elegance and impact.
