David Hockney’s fascination with flowers and the still life genre has borne fruit in countless works from the sixties to the present day. They are an enduring subject matter for the artist.

"I draw flowers every day and send them to my friends so they get fresh blooms every morning."

The artist was living in Los Angeles in 1980 when he executed this work - frequently travelling between Paris and LA.

A master of the medium, it is a testament to Hockney’s skill with printmaking that the drawing from the lithographic plate to paper has been transferred so well. The print giving the appearance of a drawing, from pencil or pen & ink.
